The Secret Weapon to Facing Fears

Updated: Sep 3, 2020

What if there were a secret weapon that gave you the courage and drive to face your fears and turn your weaknesses into skills— just like that?

It wasn’t what I intended when I started down this path, but the truth is that being an entrepreneur has become the ultimate secret machete that has cut right through my fears. It isn’t so much being an entrepreneur as it is the core behind it- having a deep passion and an enormous belief in your offering to this world will lead you to conquer battles you thought you’d never want to fight. Because once you find this passion, this core belief that you truly feel will impact people’s lives, it’s not so much about you anymore or your upset stomach at the thought of uttering a few words in front of an audience.

It’s about getting your message to the people who need to hear it most, people you believe will lead better lives because of it. And if it means a bit of temporary discomfort, anxiety, and rattling nerves, well…so be it.

hardest and easiest decision of my life to go to the source of my passion and spent time living and working in Italy. Soon after this leap, I decided to step out a little further and launched Creative Edge Travel.

As I mentioned before, this journey of entrepreneurship has absolutely transformed me and has me do crazy things. Like working 12+ hour days, saying goodbye to an income (for now), and…facing a lot of fears. And here comes how the aforementioned passion and entrepreneurial spirit become super powers against soul-crushing fear and self-doubt. The latest fear I’ve looked in the eye is public speaking. If you’ve been watching my stories on Instagram, you know that a few weeks ago at Women’s Travel Fest in NYC, I was so inspired by the women who spoke that I suddenly felt this flip in my mindset about public speaking. I went from being certain I would avoid public speaking for the rest of my life (*am I right??*), to seeing it as an exciting (but still scary) challenge (*say whaaaa?*).

It comes down to this: the ability to make an audience feel what you feel is basically a SUPER POWER. Having a spotlight to share YOUR story is a gift. And I want some of that!..so two weeks after Women’s Travel Fest, I gave my first talk as Founder of Creative Edge Travel! I definitely need practice but just accepting this opportunity and DOING it was huge and such a beautiful start to a journey discovering the power of my own voice and how to use it to impact people in a positive way.

While I was preparing, I came across a talk by Richard Greene and his words struck me:

“Public speaking is nothing more than having a conversation from your heart about something you are authentically passionate about.”

So ladies and gentlemen, it turns out that the #1 secret weapon to facing your fears is passion.
